This tutorial will guide you through administrating your server the good old fashioned way, before any Server Admin Plug-ins were created, or they were, but they were not popular.
Okay, first of all, I want to give you a brief description of what Rcon is, and how it helps you run your server.
Rcon stands for Remote Control. (I've heard it stand for Remote Console, but I know it as Remote Control.)
It basically is a way of remotely administrating your server without having to minimize your game and manually doing it from your web control panel or something like that.
It is rather simple to use Rcon. And it allows (almost) complete admin to your server. There are only a few things you cannot do, like edit the Message of the Day, or change the status of VAC.
This is why I am including a warning to you all. If you are a server owner, DO NOT hand out your rcon password to everybody, just keep it to yourself, and maybe the clan leader, if you are not your clan's leader.
This is where the likes of Mani come in handy. You can set how much power you want to give people, and it usually varies for every person, depending on how much you can trust them - but that's irrelevant.
So I will get to the point.
You need to login into Rcon first of all. Say your Rcon Password has been set to "admin" - which I DO NOT RECOMMEND!
You have to type in the console: rcon_password "password"
In this case, it would be: rcon_password "admin"
Now you are classed as Logged In.
Now, before we go to adding bots or banning people or whatever you want to do, I need to tell you that you will have to type "rcon" before any command. This is because the server needs to recognize that you are wanting this command to be done using the server, and not using you - if that makes sense.
For example: Say you wanted to add a bot to your server to play with. If you typed "bot_add" in the console, your console would recognize that command as "clientside" - You are a client of the server. Nothing would happen.
However, if you were properly logged in to Rcon you could type: "rcon bot_add"
Now your console would recognize you wanted that command to be executed "serverside" - through the server.
A bot will be added.
The same applies for kicking somebody, turning cheats on and everything else.
Now that you know how to log in to Rcon, here is a small list of useful commands you can use:
rcon_password "password" - Log into Rcon. Must be done every time you connect to the server.
rcon bot_add - Add a bot to the server. Bots take up slots for players, so don't add to many!
rcon kick "player" - Kicks someone off the server. Change "player" with the exact name of the player on the server. Should work.
rcon sv_password "password" - Adds a password to your server so that nobody can join unless you give them the password that you set. This is different from your Rcon password, and do not set them the same.
rcon say "message" - Allows you to say a message is the "rcon style"
Say you were a terrorist. If you typed a message it would come up as: [USH] Delta_301: I can use Rcon!
If you were using Rcon Say, it would come up as this:
Console: I can use Rcon!

Thanks for reading this, I hope it helped you.
